Fine oil trailer tanker for Danish Agro a.m.b.a.

In response to the growing demand from several customers, VM Tarm a/s has begun to produce oil/petrol tankers again after a four-year break.

We have just delivered the first out of three oil trailer tankers to Danish Agro a.m.b.a. The oil trailer tanker will primarily deliver diesel oil for agricultural purposes. The front carriage has a volume of 18,800 litres, and the trailer has a volume of 32,200 litres. 

The oil trailer tanker is also equipped with a flexible new pump control, developed by VM Tarm a/s.

Our oil/petrol tankers are always produced to high quality standards, and the tanker can help to ensure your reliable deliveries to your customers.

VM Tarm a/s also offers follow-up service and repairs in our super-modern service workshop.

More opportunities with flexible modular trailer tanker

Grønaasen Transport AS in Norway has taken delivery of a versatile trailer tanker that makes it possible to run under two sets of rules. The trailer tanker is built up as three separate units: a front carriage, a dolly with extendible drawbar, and a semitrailer.
               
When the front carriage, dolly and semitrailer are assembled, and the total length is below 19.5 metres, this serves as a normal trailer tanker that achieves a total weight of 50 tonnes in Norway.
 
If the dolly is pulled out two metres, the trailer tanker will become a modular trailer tanker. The trailer tanker's length increases to 19 metres from the first to the last axle, which is required in order to run as a modular trailer tanker, where the total weight is 60 tonnes.
 

The flexible trailer tanker makes it possible to combine freight transport in different ways. For example, Grønaasen Transport AS can start as a modular trailer tanker, using the modular road network. When they have unloaded 10 tonnes and retracted the dolly, they can continue as an ordinary trailer tanker. They can now use the ordinary roads and get around Norway more.

The combination of a front carriage, dolly and semitrailer helps to make Grønaasen Transport AS more effective and competitive towards their customers.

Bonus info

  • In Norway, it is not possible to carry ADR freight as a modular trailer tanker.
  • In Sweden, trailer tankers can carry up to 60 tonnes of ADR freight.
  • In Denmark, trailer tankers can only run as modular trailer tankers, as the length exceeds 18.75 metres when the trailer tanker is retracted.

The Tank Trailer of the Future is contributing to further development of weight optimisation

In 2014, VM Tarm a/s produced the Tank Trailer of the Future, as the result of a publicly-subsidised development project focused on reducing the tank trailer's tare weight. Read about the Tank Trailer of the Future here.
 
On a daily basis, the Tank Trailer of the Future transports milk for Arla Foods in Denmark and has so far clocked around half a million kilometres. It has just been subject to inspection, without any remarks. The tank trailer has proved its viability, even though its dimensions pushed the limits of what we believed to be possible.
 
VM Tarm a/s is continuing to work on developing weight optimisation. We have also begun to experiment with producing duplex steel tanks. This high-strength steel enables us to reduce the thickness gauge by ½-1 mm.
 
We are currently producing the first duplex steel trailer tanker for milk collection. This trailer tanker will be delivered in February 2017.

New sales consultant for sale of oil/petrol tankers

As of 1 December 2016, VM Tarm a/s has employed Jesper Falkenløve as a new sales consultant. Jesper will be responsible for the sale of oil/petrol tankers in Scandinavia.
 
He has experience from the transport industry from previous positions at e.g. SAF Danmark ApS and Transport-Teknik A/S. Jesper is aged 46 and lives in Vojens, Denmark.

The first 5-axle trailer from VM Tarm a/s

VM Tarm a/s has delivered the first 5-axle trailer, to the Norrmejerier dairy cooperative in Sweden.

The trailer is part of a trailer tanker that complies with the new weight rules in Sweden, which as from 1 March 2017 allow for a total weight of 74 tonnes on certain roads.

In practice this means that the trailer has an extra axle. Alone, the trailer can have a total weight of 42 tonnes, while in combination with a 4-axle front carriage it can achieve an overall total weight of 74 tonnes.

The trailer tanker for Norrmejerier will be used to collect milk in northern Sweden.

New sales consultant at VM Tarm a/s

As of 1 September 2016, VM Tarm a/s has appointed Claus Joakim Brok as a new sales consultant. Claus will be responsible for sales of milk and chemical tankers in Finland.
 
Claus has been a project manager at VM Tarm a/s for four years, and his existing knowledge of customers and products makes his appointment a great asset to the company. Aged 43, Claus lives in Brædstrup.

Appointment of new Technical Manager and Service Manager

VM Tarm a/s has appointed Sune Boelskifte as Technical Manager and Mikkel Keller as Service Manager with effect on 1 August 2016.
 
Sune joined VM Tarm as Production Assistant 13 years ago, rising first to Project Manager and then to Service Manager for the Service Department 3 years ago.
 
Mikkel joined us 14 years ago as a fitter in Production, where he subsequently became Foreman in the slurry tanker department. More recently, he has worked in the Service Department, initially as Service Assistant and latterly as Project Manager.
 
Recruiting the new Technical and Service Managers internally is an obvious advantage, due to their prior knowledge of our employees, customers and products.
